heavy/mushy clutch, wont go into R,1st,3rd,5th gears

My clutch feels very stiff when the car is just turned on. I pump it alot...a hundred times or so and the feeling doesnt go away. The car wont engage 1st or 5th at all. It will grind if I try to put it into 3rd or reverse. It goes into 2nd and 4th easier but not like it did before the problem. Another problem, maybe unrelated, i dont know, is that the car (probably tranny) will whine when im light on the gas. The whine will go away if I hit the gas hard or start to boost. For the clutch problem I would check and replace my slave and master cylinder first. If that dosnt work its a clutch and pressure plate problem. As for your tranny whining I just had the same problem I changed the fluid it calmed it down a little. About 3 to 4 mounths later I blew my third gear my brand new tranny dosnt whine at all.

Check for fluid coming out of the master (under the dash) or the slave (front of the tranny). If one is leaking, replace it.

Also, bleed the hydraulics.
