Hi guys, I was wondering if someone could help me out. I have a wire coming out of my altrnator that is just hanging there and I don't know where it came from. It's not the wire for my oil pressure (my oil pressure gauge is working fine, and I've had this wire fall out before so I know it's not the one). The wire comes out of the alternator and goes up. There's a bracket on the alternator that holds the wire. If anyone with a 1G could check this out for me I'd really appreciate it. The wire is easily visible by just popping your hood and looking at the alternator.

there is a green wire, and a yellow wire that hang down for the oil stuff.
one is unused, i forget which one.

I don't think the wire your talking about is the one i need. I found this pic in a thread about grounding wires. I put a yellow outline around the wire that is hanging on my car.

this wire is held with a wiretie to the thin shield around the PS pump, not connected.

Its the same on my 91 tsi awd aswell.

my guess is it just slipped out of the clip?
