Crap and a half. I had a Mitsubishi dealer perform the t-case recall on my 92 GSX about 5 months ago. The original one was breaking down because of the defect inherent to our t-cases. Luckily, they installed a brand new t-case for me. Here I am 5 months later, with a broken transfer case. The damn thing is totally smoked/burnt up. It happened "all of a sudden." No symptoms prior to complete devastation. I had plenty of fluid, changed it routinely, and I never msitreated the car. Ideas?

Take it back. Federal Law mandates they have to keep fixing it til it is fixed.

Welll, yeah of course. I'm already in the middle of taking back the brand new one and forcing them to replace it. But my real question is why would a new transfer case go out after 5 months? Especially when there were no symptoms of it going bad.

make a mark on your drive shaft yoke, the metal part that sheilds oil from getting out, and make sure to tell they that they had BEST replace the yoke. if they dont they didn't fix the problem at all. all the did was replace your transfer case and called it a day. the reason I say makea mark on the yoke is because you can check to see if they replaced it. if they didn't, bi***.

Yoke replacement isn't included in the recall??? They replaced my yoke & seals on the transfercase. Same old transfercase though...:(
