I'm about to buy a first gen talon TSI AWD. But the owner says it over boosts sometimes, can you tell me what this is and can it be fixed? Does it do damage to car?

What modifications does it have? Turbo? Exhaust? Boost controller? Larger fuel pump?

I'll list all the ones I remember.

Cut the air can, put on a new boost gauge but I don't think a new controller, sway bar in engine compartment, turbo timer, and 3" catback. Sounds like he has a decent idea of what he is doing.

What about the downpipe? If the downpipe is big, that might be the problem of overboost--boost creep. You should find out EVERYTHING done to the car.

Too much boost = too much air = not enough fuel = hot = boom/melt = .

You need extra fuel for higher boost (Higher flowing fuel pump.) And definitely bigger fuel injectors for bigger turbo.

This "overboost" problem is very fixable. By controlling air/exhaust flow--by porting (enlargening) the waste-gate opening inside the turbo housing. Or putting a restriction in the exaust system at the last resort, until you're willing to spend more money further to completely eliminate the problem.

Basically, what it comes down to: expensive and involved hobby. :D

My car overboosted until I ported out the O2 Housing and the Wastegate hole on the turbine housing. Now it is rock solid.

What you're precisely lookin for, is 34mm flapper door. and about 30-32mm waste-gate hole. That's usually $60. (The turbo housing has to be off the car) Port the o2 housing waste-gate passage, probably around $60-$70 as well.
