I have a problem with a high idle. When the car is cold, it will idle fine. But once the car warms up, it idles between 2k and 3k. The manual says to ground the blue plug on the firewall, and then adjust the idle, shut the car off, un ground it, start it back up and let it idle for 10 minutes. So I did that, and it didnt work.

The car has sat for 2+ years, and I never had an Idle problem before. What could cause this? Would a vac. leak cause this? I cant find any, but I will look harder if it is possably the cause.

I have a 2g turbo

not sure what manual you have. i have a chilton. it is kinda confusing but this is what i did and it worked.

make sure car is up to operating temp.

turn off.

blue plug.....leave alone. (this is where you connect a tach. if you don't have one don't worry.)

brown plug....ground to battery (this is the timing adjuster terminal. i think this stops the ecu from trying to adjust anything when you are)

under the dash, find the diagnostic port. take a piece of speaker wire and stick it in the bottom right hand hole (check your manual and make sure this is the right hole. its the one you need to ground, its should be the hole that would be closest to the gas pedal) and ground the other end. i connected it to a metal plate by the gas pedal.

then start the car and adjust biss screw until you have around 750rpms.

turn off car, remove all wires and fire it up, let idle for 10 min.

i just did this like last week and i'm holding steady at 750-1000 when i was between 1200-2000.

also, i guess it helps to turn the radio, a/c, and any other electronics off (neon ect....)

one more tip. before i did this i took out the biss screw all together and checked the o-ring. mine was fine but i did find a ton of carbon on the tip which i cleaned off.
