Well..its a love hate thing..just put the new alternator on and was going for a test run went down the block shiftd out of first @ 3500 2nd was ok..missed 3rd and revvd to 6000 foot OFF gas then there was a pop. Now cars wants to die without being gassed and idle like its cammed when its bone stock..HELP!

I can't really explain the high rev on it's own. Maybe the pedal stuck, but I would check for a blow intercooler coupling. You probably blew a pipe somewhere along the line. I've had that happen a few times. Check all your hoses/pipes to see if you have leaks. Probably what it is, as the end results are exactly what you describe.

Just a shot in the dark but being that when you let off of the throttle, fuel is cut (unless idle) which could lead to a lean condition. And being around 6 grand, some detonation could have taken place... compression test just to be sure. Are you sure it was a pop sound?

Ok, I saw the lower IC hose that was off the turbo and put it back and tightened..also did spark plugs and wires..spark plug tips were black..so I suspect its' running rich and it still dies unless i give it gas..Im very lost..and appreciate ALL of the input I have received soo much.:sosad:

How would I check the timing issue? And im checking all hoses now..what about plugs and wires? Would they all of a sudden go out?

Hahha. I should've read further. I tried to explain timing checking, but didn't realize you figured it out. Simple fix though! ;)

Running the car or attempting to run the car with the hose off would cause it to be very, very rich. So rich it cannot run because the maf is metering air that never gets into the engine. Get some new plugs and try again is all I can think of.

Ok, I practically took the whole engine apart, head and all! I found 2 vacuum lines that were disconected I put those back on and i retightned all of the turbo hoses w/ T Clamps..probably overkill w/ a stock setup but..it runs like it should now..
