1G-specific RPM going crazy, CEL flashing, car's sputtering, cant run

okay, This morning, I drove my car to school without any problems, After school on my way home, out of nowhere my car started sputtering, CEL kept flashing on and off, cant run, The RPM is going crazy going all over the place, bogging during idle and when its in gear. I just put in some new NGK bpr6es iridiums, and new kragen plug wire. I use to have ngk bpr7es.

I was a mile or so away so I just limped her home.

any suggestions? What to check?

Last I checked BPR6ES's and iridiums were two different plugs. If you really did put iridium plugs in swap them out for some actual BPR6ES copper plugs.

And do a boost leak test for good measure.

The alternator was replaced less than 5 months ago.

I will varify the plugs tomorrow.

I started the car earlier and it was all back to normal. I didnt get to test drive it cause its already blocked in. but I revved it up and it sputters around 4k rpm then, It was about to die during idle(less than 500)

Sorry for the sarcasm in advance but Wow could it be? Not another CAS gone bad here on tuners. Just go to the scrap yard and get a new Cam Angle Sensor, or borrow one to try out.

I was on packing lot and unplugged my connector to the alternator (5-6 wire one) and car ran, (huge power loss) but I drove it home, also my voltage on Apexi RSV was 16V so it was overcharging the battery. Next day car ran fine till it got hot and V went back to 16 so I unpluged it again. THis is temp fix to get you around but change your alternator asap.

Also for my car, 2 days later my Hand brake, Battery and Radiator light went on so I now for sure it's the alternator (or the V regulator).

I would say alternator. Or battery I guess. I set my battery on my cement garage floor (which I guess you're not supposed to do) for 3 weeks while working on my car and when I put it back in the car had to be jumped and when I tried to drive it had the same symptoms as your. Same thing happened when the ground came off my alternator but that also blew the ALT. fusible link which you might want to check.

Don't drive the car unless it is to a shop. A cel blinking means something is wrong that could potentailly damage the engine. Take it to a shop and have them hook up a scanner. Don't bring it to autozone for the free scan. They can't check manufacture specific codes with their scanner. Even if the light is off the shop can check the history to see what it came on for.

I just started the car, and everything is all good. My volts meter reads 13v. While its idleing, I took off the CAS plug and it died.(still good?) my alternator fuse is not busted. took off the positive for batt. and it didnt die. revves up to redline without any problem.

could heat be a big factor of this problem? yesterday was like over 100* and drove it for an hour or so before acting wierd. My temp guage was on the second line about 3/4 to redline.

Check the plug on the power transistor. It is probably looses or dirty.

im having the EXACT same problem. I tried just about every sensor off my buddies car and still same. I know my battery terminals are crap but I dont think their that bad! i'll put new ones on tomorrow and test my battery. Im leaning more towards the worse...CAS
how hard are they to change?

Sometimes when the power transistor modules are going bad the problem only happens with heat.

No, I don't have a write up. It is on the side of the valve cover. It slides into the intake cam. All you have to do is take the connector off and then the two nuts holding it on. Then pull it out and put the new one on. If it doesn't start it is because the cas is out 180 degrees. To fix that you would take it back off and turn the thing that slides in the intake cam by 180 degrees.

I just checked mine and the connection is a little loose. plug it in all the way,started the car, and unpluged the power transistor and the car died. I pluged it back in all the way.

When it gets really hot, does that mean it going out? or its normal like that?
