This past week on my vacation I finally got a chance to install: 255lph walbro, 750cc inj, fuel feed/return and afrp. I put on my fmic, evo3 16g, fp manifold and intake tube, hooked up 3" gm maft in blow through, a COP setup, and installed dsmlink into my ecu. NOW THE CAR WONT START! go figure. I verified my pump is working, fuel pressure goes to 23psi while cranking. I know that there is spark ### i zapped myself pretty good on one of the COP boots, LOL. I haven't tuned the MAFT yet ### i dont know how, also haven't set fuel base pressure yet ### i cant start it. Where should I start? I looked on vfaq, searched, but still cant find out how to tune the thing. Anyone have any ideas? I also removed the emissions stuff up in the right corner (hoses and solenoids) and the charcoal canister. Capped the empty vac lines. Only ones left are one to manifold for bov that goes to WG actuator and MBC, and one for AFPR and boost guage. :(

If its turning over and getting spark and fuel I'd say you need to dial in some base settings on Maf-t or Link.

how do i do that? i thought link's chip had base settings that would allow me to start the car and tune from there? or am i wrong? and the only thing i read that im able to do was set the #2 dip switch to show 750cc injectors. ive never used either maft or link before so im totally lost on how to begin.

fuel pressure should be 43.5 PSI. set the translator for stock injectors (base 10, idle 2 I think) make sure your DSMLink chip is not in backwards (if I remember correctly this only affects being able to connect but I'm not 100%) you didnt change timing or anything did you?

i haven't changed anything. chip is in correctly. can i set the fuel psi while the car is just cranking over?

No no no.

Set the MAFT to all base settings. The DSMlink chip will compensate for the injectors. Youre only using the GM MAF for the airflow readings.

You just need to set the deadtime and globals in DSMlink and you should be set.

Honestly, you have some reading to do before you even get the car started.

yeah i absolutley agree. this is my 1st turbo car let alone 1st time "tuning." I just want to get the car started to check for leaks etc. SO you think if i set the DT and global it will start? what do you think about my vac line set up? i wasn't sure if i could take the fuel pressure solenoid off and be ok? I just tried setting the maft for 10 and 2 like posted before but nothing happened. i have access to a laptop tomorrow so ill work on setting those things.

Ok, so for now I can't do jack sh*t...they didn't include a user manual (which is why im so lost in the 1st place) and now i have to get a serial/usb adapter so I can actually use Link. Well at least I have the first step figured out! I'll post back when I actually am able to set my global/deadtime stuff and let you know how I make out.

today i swapped to my stock chip...no start, swapped out my COP to stock...no start. also ordered that keyspan adapter for my Link so thats going to be the only thing left I can think of to check...anyone have anymore ideas?

yeah, i tapped the white wire on the maft to the small black wire on CAS. now i dont have spark, and i dont think i see the transistor module...where exactly is it? i was told by the coil pack but even with mine removed i dont see anything

yeah it blinks on for 1 second like its supposed to. i was told even with a faulty maf the car should start. and that wouldn't account for why i have no spark.

anyone else have a clue what I could check? so far I have tried two coils (stock and COP), two ecu's (stock, socketed 750cc eprom and 450cc chip), with and without maft plugged in to rpm source or plugged in all together. I've looked in the service manual and they list ecu, power transistor pack, cas, plugs and wires as possible checks. WTF else is there? one thing im not 100% sure is the status of my transistor pack...i know its supposed to be below the coil pack but there are no disconnected plugs in that area and im not sure if i see it. This is really getting annoying!

thats what im hoping for so as soon as my cable gets here i can change it, and they said i can log ecu function too. one more question though...on the firewall to the right of the wiper motor there is what looks like a rather large capacitor with a wire going from it, i mounted my maft box next to it and i may have hit it...what the hell is it?
