About two weeks back, my car was needing to be jumped every time I tried to start it. The last time out, I took a 45 minute drive and returned home. Car was dead upon next restart. I then tried to jump the car again. The car started up fine, but as soon as I removed the jumper cables, the car died. I reconnected and tried again, this time leaving both vehicles connected and running for about 20 minutes. As soon as I disconnected them, the car died. I then tried a friend's battery, the car would start, but die seconds later. I tried this several times, giving gas and not, but car died every time. Yesterday I pulled the alternator and had it checked. It tested fine. My battery tested bad, but I had already tried a fresh battery. I'm all out of ideas. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Will the car die if you hold the gas pedal down to make it fast idle (say 2K RPM)?

Make sure you battery cables are tight and in good condition. I had an old set that were severely pitted that caused intermittant power interruptions. Also check you 80A (alternator) fuse on the side of the underhood D/S relay box. These can partially blow and weird stuff like that will happen :dsm:

I tried keeping it around 2000rpm but it died there as well. My alternator fuse was blown (120A in my case), I'll replace that tonight, but unfortunately it got too dark to finish putting my alternator back in.

Replaced the fuse today. That was my problem. Simple thing I overlooked. Thanks!
