Just got in from a hard drive, no smoke, but the smell, Holy S**T!!!! I mean its dark now but i opened the hood it smells in the front of the car, and on the sides, Let my car idle walked to the yard to grab the garbage and i could smell it 20 feet away!! dont you think thats kind of odd. Would Gear oil spraying onto the exhaust from th Xfer Case stink like that or is it possible i have an exhaust leak before the turbo? but my car is running great wouldn't that affect my idle or surge or something if it was before the turbo? Just did a search on seafoam think im gonna try it. By the way i stopped in Walmart and i felt like passing out all dizzy and S**T i think I might have inhaled some fumes and i have a massive headache right now.

Unfortunatly for you, you are kind of on your own with your smelly car. Its hard to help diagnose a smell.

Visual inspection. I dont think your exhaust is hot enough at your downpipe to cook your gear lube like you might have thought.

have you driven through any floods or road kill lately. That happened to me and I guess something just got stuck and cooked on my down pipe . Eventually the smells goes away. Hopefully that happens in your case.

I bought my car not running so I don't know what the usual, but I did a top end rebuild and ever since then it smells like I'm running race gas or something when I drive my car hard! I was told that DSM's have a unique smell!

no, i have not drove thhrough a flood or roadkill, i just drove around with the carbon monoxide detector from my house and it did not go off, I also held by my exhaust for a minute too and it did not go off, so i guess im good becuse it definatly works when i burn food in the house it goes off. im baffled i mean after that ride i feel like puking. I am going to drive my truck for a couple of days and see what happens. maybe i am just sick or something but the truck test will see. i am assuming all CO2 is the same and that the detector will work in the car the same as it does in the house right?????

Carbon monoxide is - CO

Carbon dioxide is -CO2

Simple chemistry lesson there for ya

We'd love to help, but it's really hard to diagnose a car that "smells like Sh*t" over the internet.
