I just recently dropped a motor into the TSi. The oil return line was broken so i replaced it. After the install, the car smoked from the exhaust like crazy. Also the car now shuts off on its own when driving short distances ( as short as 50 feet) where are the grounding points located? Thnx

what makes you think its a ground issue? does it shut off when you (if you can) drive long distances? im not too familiar with 1st gens, so if no one on here can help you, id suggest a haynes manual

yeah i'm pretty sure. Theres no spark and new everything so its a ground. The ECU ground wasnt made up either so im pretty sure theres another not connected right. I just need to know where they are and how many. I know of the one on the top of the intake thats about it.

All ground locations are shown in the factory manual under "Component Locations - Grounding". Perhaps you could have a dealer copy that page for you. Or under "Grounding Location" in the DSM Backup Manual. Or you can try the Michell Auto Repair Manuals at a library (call first to see if they have them). Also see this to help finding bad grounds: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?p=151082118#post151082118

thanks for the help. it turned out to be the CAS full of water from sitting that night with the hood open(started raining insanely). We made up a temperary line for the oil return line because the white smoke(might have been blue i dunno night time) was from oil getting into the exhaust. Thanks for the help :)
