I just started my 2g after a basic rebuild. It idles great and sound fine when the engine is reved. But as soon as I start to drive it runs horrible. I am building 7lbs of boost. I am not finding any huge boost leaks and a small one shouldn't make it run this bad. It has fresh plugs and good 94 pump in it. What should I check for. It seems like 2k rpm and up driving it is irratic, stubles bucks hesiates and the hole nine yards. But again when it is reved in nuetral runs, sounds smooth. I dont think it is a turbo problem but boost related. I have a greddy ebc need to make sure it is setup correctly. I am thinking maybe a coil problem but why would it sound fine when I rev it in nuetral. The car has a Mitsu Metal HG and I know they are proned to leak if the mating surfaces arnt perfect. I will be doing a compression test soon and I will post the results. The other things is I set the afc at 30% build 5lbs boost at 70% only build 7lbs. I think I just have the ebc set wrong I am going to download the manual and try to figure it out. The only things I can think of it is ebc set wrong, boost leak, or leaking under boost. Any ideas of stuff to check or test let me know and I will do it. I do have a extra hg from the topline complete gasket kit so it wont be a big deal if it needs it.

Get new wires. Mine did the same thing after i got my car back together..No idea why my wires where good when i took them out and bad when i put them back in.

I thought about that, I will throw some new ngk wires on. Did you car run as bad as mine does.

I'll go ahead and say three things. But I need to know more information about your car in order to precisely help you.
1: Check your timing
2: Check for Boost Leaks
3: Bad ignition component

Chances are your problem is one of the three, however, without knowing more about your vehicle and the modifications done to it, I can't help you narrow it down.

Thanks for the help, I fixed the car. It had a boost leak at the j-pipe to turbo. Also the actuator was jamed up and not functioning.

#2 wins again :)
Good to hear you got it all figured out. Thanks for following up with the solution.

The boost leak was actually minor. I believe the main problem was the actuator was not opening and closing correctly.
