Grinding/Knocking Sound Dont Know What It Is??

Hey Wuts Up to every one. Im a newbie to the DSM world i jus bout a 90 Talon TSI AWD 3 day ago the car was running find turbo was kicking in good and the car had a lot of power. But last night i was beating on the car a little bit and accidently why shifting from 3rd to 4th i went to 2nd and the car jus redlined and was realy load. After that i drove the car normal but it started to make a verry load noise every time i would let go of the gas like a type of grinding noise or a noise of something that could be loose. This noise only happens when i let go of the gas. You can also hear it if u start the car and jus let it run but its not as loud. One thing that i noticed is that if i push the clutch pedal in when the car is stop the sound completly goes away. And if i put the car in neutral when driving it also quiets down i have. The sound sounds comes from the front of the car by the engine compartment. Also it makes like a belt is sqeekin when the car is running.

I probobly didnt make any sense but if any body can give me clues or tell wut to check for that will be grate thank you.

My car was making the exact same noises. Later that day I overheated, spun a rod bearing, and had my oil turn into gray paste. I still have yet to know what caused it, because I wasn't beating on mine, I was cruising @ 60mph on the highway.

well is it coming from your engine?...because i a buddy of mine did pretty much the same thing. he raced an EVO and downshifted and just redlined it and it ending up being a piston rod that broke in the head of the engine. he had to get a new engine.

but wow how did you go from 3rd to 2nd intead of 4th? did you just learn how to drive stick or were you just not paying attention and pulled the stick toward you when you shifted

I was supposed to shift into 4th and i was shifting fast so i put it in second by mistake and didnt notice, but today i drove the car it drives strong and turbo kicks in and all that good stuff but it makes the noise and the gears weren't going in and at the same time the clutch pedal got really soft.... It did that a couple of times....
