hey guys. im new to dsm tuners so forgive me if you need extra info. i have a 90 talon :talon: tsi and i am having some problems. i got the car about 2 yrs ago and have replace a huge amount of things. right now when ever i go above 3500 rpms there is this extremely loud and horrible sounding buzzing noise. there is also a black fluid that looks like jet black water coming from the second exhaust port (second from the left if looking from the front of car). i checked it and it does not smell like gas or oil. it doesnt seem to have an oily texture either. there is a lot of carbon coming out of that cylinder also. the car is also running incredibly lean. i can add up to 50% using my safcII and it is still lean. my exhaust manifold is also turning very blue which i am afraid is going to crack it. the only thing that i can think of is that the turbo is bad but then why is the exhaust pretty steady and it is still boosting about half way. no lights come on at all either when the car is running or driving. the only light that has ever come on is the one that looks like a little tent in yellowish orange. if neone can help me that would be awesome. i have checked over everything personally and had other mechanics and friends with dsms help me as well and no one can figure this one out. thanks guys!! :dsm: :dsm:

Buzzing noise is too vague. Does it sound like a lawn mower? If so it could be an exhaust leak. Also saying that your car is running lean is too vague, at what RPM and what boost level? How do you know you are running lean and it's not a bad o2 sensor? If you are running rich when you think you are lean you could have carbon leaking out of an exhaust leak at your manifold causing the mysterious black fluid leak.

Is your profile/mods up to date?

 yes it sounds like a lawn mower and i know it is lean because of an air fuel meter. sometimes when i adjust it when im driving it goes to stoich or all the way over to the most possible rich led but that is only under load. i thought about the o2 sensor but would that still be bad if it is able to go to stoich. also it is always like that, always lean unless correction by safcII is added. i thought about an exhaust leak but right befor last winter i had all the piping checked and most replaced by one of my friends with a local muffler shop. he said that my exhaust was all good and had replaced it with 2 1/4 piping from the flex pipe back. still have stock cat and muffler. i am trying to get my datalogger to work so that i can post some logs. it just doesnt seem to wanna register anything when it is hooked up. i even have the upgraded cable for it. also my turbo wasnt cracked and now it is on the inside of the exhaust entrance and now turbo fins are an orangish color almost like a lot ofrust and kinda resembles a lot of stress. my friend said thats because it is getting way to hot. thanks for your help too. if you have any other ideas please let me know.

Well, exhaust doesn't have to be leaking from piping. In fact, a leak in the piping wouldn't cause any problems. A leak before the o2 sensor is what you are looking for. This could be caused by a warped manifold or head surface, a cracked manifold turbo or o2 housing or a blown manifold, turbo or o2 housing gasket.

If you do have an exhaust leak before the o2 sensor as stated above you most likely are running rich but the o2 sensor is reading lean due to the fact that outside air is coming in. I had the exact same problem, but on a mostly stock fuel system. This could also explain your turbine getting too hot as the extra fuel you are adding could still be burning when it gets to the turbo.

thanks for your help. im gonna get a leak tester or make one and check. as soon as i have some more results then i will post again with some results. thanks man
