i changed my timing belt about 2k miles ago, anyways, i pulled the upper belt cover off and noticed that it is wearing on the inside (side closest to the engine) i pulled all of the covers off and don't really see any place that is is rubbing except for lip on the tensioner pulley, i am gonna go grab a camera and snap a few pics and post them, i dont know if it is something to worry about..but my old belt never wore that much... anyways i have had a whine that went with the speed of the engine for a while too, and i think that it is my balance shaft belt being too tight, the vfaq said that the center of the installation bolt was suppose to be way down in the bottom corner, but should i go by that? or by deflection?

I would personally go with belt deflection. Furthermore how old is the tensioner pully? (that may be the cause of the belt damage)

the tensioner pulley is the same age as the belt, i replaced everything at 60K...i can't think of anything really, the crankshaft backplate is brand new, it only goes on 1 way, so that can't be cutting anything..so i really don't know why it would be wearing..

Hmmm....If all is good...then i cant really see what that problem is. However if the "new" tensioner pullt is even on the slightest angle it will chew the belt. Futhermore, if the belt was just even alite wider then needed the excess will get chewed up...just thinking outside the box!

I hope that helps! I am sure it doesnt cause it doesnt solve the prob.

i got a brand new trigger plate a few weeks ago and put that on, do i know its not that...the lip on the tensioner pulley is polished, so i dont know if that is bad or not, the only way it would get polished would be if something rubbed on it a bunch of times, i really dont see how it would be sitting at an angle either, or else i just got a defective pulley? not sure.. i'll see if the problem persists..
