How can I tell if its water pump or TB tens.?

I have a little rattle coming from around my belts. I have been told its the water pump or belt tensioner. Is there anyway I could tell which one the rattles coming from??? Thanks

Put the end of a long screwdriver (or hose) against the water pump housing and the other end to your ear and listen. A bad water pump is the bearing which makes a consistent and ugly grinding noise.
