what is this? I never seen this or heard of it in my life! I notice a rotten egg smell when i was driving my car hard, i pop up the hood and see my battery having smoke fumes coming out from each side, its making a water boiling sound, and it stinks so &^*&* bad!
What could it be??This is a BRAND NEW BATTERY like 3 months old! I have pics check them out.

Have your alternator checked out. It sounds like its overcharging the battery. Most autoparts stores will analyze the charging system for free.

My alternator is brand new too..=/. i been doin some reading up and i think it could be the voltage regulater in the alternator..this alt is nothing even 3 months old. I ve had some of the power steering fluid leak on top of the alt but i fixed that about 2-3 weeks ago. And it jus started to this last night. Is there any way i can temporary avoid this? Im gonna compeltly dissconnect my stereo system/cd unit.. Can i jus run on the battery meaning dissconnecting the alternator or loosen the belt?? I have no money till tomm payday.. i dont want my battery to explode on me, and i dont have any other car to drive..this really really sucks! thanks for your help.

ok i had my alt. checked its fine, its my battery thats the problem. he said that its only doing service charge something like that..all i know is that i need a new battery, i dissconnected my system and the smell and smoke went away. imma jus leave it like that till i buy a new one tomm. oo and other good news my left headlight bulb jus blew magically! but thanks for your help man, appreciate it!

Still sounds like the cause was the Alt overcharging the battery.. the effect was a premature battery failure as all the acid boiled out.

I'd check the new battery for signs of overcharging just to be safe.

Also check all the connections to the ALT to make sure they are tight and free of PS fluid.

Come to find out it was the "alt" failing..after i bought a new battery the guy tested it and he told me that i was right, since i bought the alt like 3 months ago at that store, i got another altnator for free for exchange for the burnt alt. Allways keep your reciepts!!
thanks

Sounds right though. If the guy tested the charging system with the bad battery still in the car it wouldn't have detected the bad alternator. Because the battery would have shown to be bad first. Once replaced with a good battery then the test would be true. Glad to hear its all fixed though.
