Hey everyone,

I bought my 95 TSi AWD just over a month ago and the head blew the day I bought it... the dealership said it was from a starter problem, but not sure about that. I just got the car back 4 days ago, put a few hundred miles on it, and it drove great. Yesterday night I drove it pretty hard and pretty fast, but it drove great all night and drove fine today as well. I did not drive the car hard today. I parked it at my friends house, and came outside an hour later to see a rough idle problem out of nowhere... nothing major, just bounces from 750, to like 900, down to 700... then back up. I took it around the block slowly just to see how it was running, and it started hesitating really badly, when hitting the gas the car went nowhere... almost a feeling like I was hitting fuel cut or something. I drove around the block back to my friends house, and it got worse and worse. We then parked it and tried Datalogging it but couldn't find out what the problem could be. Just before we started trying to use the datalogger, the car now will start, idle at 200 for about 1 second, then stall immediately.

Now that I think about it, at high speeds last night when boosting, i did feel a minor kick back every now and then right as my BOV went off, and the BOV kind of shuttered.

Car has upgraded fuel pump... seems like something relating to fuel to me? We could'nt find any boost leaks.

Anyone have any ideas? It's sitting in my friends driveway and I have to get it out... trying to avoid towing it back to the dealership AGAIN to be without my car for anohter month.

Edit: After reading the vague questions = vague answers thread, here is some more information. NO check engine light. It was like 35 degrees outside so pretty cold.. my car was warmed up for a bit before driving when I was watching the idle problem... before moving the car was almost half way between cold and warm already. Yesterday night throttle position was "high", today the throttle position was "low" all day, but "extremely low" right before this happened, I didn't boost at all.

I know this sounds dumb, but unhook the batery, then hook it back up, this will re-set all the sensors. I had a simular problem, found it the MAS sensor was reading wrong, hence giving the car stall out issues, doing the battery trick will reset that sensor.....It might not fix it, but it's free and easy, and worth a shot.

We tried that yesterday, it didn't really fix anything... but that was my first thought, too. It does seem like it could definatley be a sensor related issue but my friend said that EVERY sensor pulls a CEL code.. not sure about that.

When i bought my 97 GST it hesitated really bad, like it wouldnt go anywhere. I was trying to figure this out for like a day or two. Go up to an auto store and get new spark plus and spark plug wires. My car ran awesome right after i put new ones in. Make sure you get NGK's. Hope this helps you out man!!

Thanks for the posts. Lol yeah we were swearing and kicking the car immediately after that happened... I experienced what it was really like to be a DSMer! (Friday crusing and racing, beat like 6 cars, then saturday broken down and kicking and yelling at the car LOL)

We had some local DSM guys over to check it out... my friend clamped off one of the fuel lines and the car was closer to starting. We tested for spark before that and everything was fine... definatley a fuel issue. Taking a look at the fuel pump tomorrow... probably not the fuel filter since they usually don't become clogged in a matter of minutes, right?
