okay, still doing some searching, but so far, nothing on VFAQ or 1000FAQ, nor the keyword searches...

I installed a stock radio (7 setting EQ with tape) - and it worked for a day or so... then it would work for about 10 seconds when you first turned it on.
Then it would give ambient noise... tuner would fade out... nothing...

20 minutes later, you could turn it back on for 10 seconds :)

So today I grabbed a Jensen CD player been sitting around in it's box for a bit, something I bought years ago... but it's better than nothing.

Picked up a head unit install kit (wiring) and installed it. Correctly... yes I've verified... many times. The problem- the tuner seeks and tunes correctly... the CD player can fast forward, play, etc... but there is 100% NOTHING FROM THE SPEAKERS :(

No ambient, nothing. not a glimmer of sound, not a pop... not an electronic sausage. so anyone had this issue? Nothing else affected... 91 Laser RS turbo FWD

ganked the unit, put it in another car, works fine.

had three people double check the install- fine.

is there anyway I can check to see about a stock amp or something? I don't know much about this car, it came without a radio at all. The stock head I had in there was from a 90 Laser RS as well.

I checked under the passenger seat for an amp, nothing... anywhere else it could be? Did they even offer a stock amp'd system?

Yes they did and I have it. The amplifier sits right next to the ECU. Under the deck. It looks just like the ECU in that there isnt any type heat sink on it as I recall. Why dont you just re-wire all the speakers with your own wire? Youve already done enough work to it. Just make sure that your speakers are hooked up linear and your golden. I do have a question for ya'll though. I am in need of a factory tuner/tape head unit. Unless someone knows how to get the tape deck to work again. All it does is play for literally 1 second and then, click, it flips to the other side and repeats. I prefer the factory stereo cause it does everything I need it to do and no one else wants it. Hooked up a sub and were all good. :)

my tape head is pretty screwed up :( I took it apart to look into it- and pieces fell out :(

I really don't care to rewire everything... but since I'm gonna be installing a small amp and a pair of Kicker 8" I got for free... I may... I've got tons of speaker wire
