Hey

The other night my car started missing (similar to running on 3 cylinders) and I got a check engine code. I troubleshooted thinking it was a bad plug wire (had problems with them before) but that wasn't it. I had error code 44: ignition coil come up. So I cleared the code and it ran fine for awhile. Came up again later. Cleared the code and it was fine again. It isn't really a serious problem but just something I would like to clear up. My question is do I need a new coil pack or is it something else? Thank in advance.

I had these problems would run good then bad etc. I just replaced the pack and transistor pack and been good ever since. Not sure why it was sporatic in happining at the most different of times but with that code my problems were erased by the aforementioned.

Check your ECU caps...same problem here!

had a similar problem all i did was changed my power transister ( the lil black module below the coil packs) problem solved. but now i got some compression issues and possibly bent valves. LOL

Thats a good sign your power transistor is on its way out. What a perfect opportunity to get it replaced before you are driving down the road and it does go out then you will have only two cylinders firing.
