is my tranny done??? update transfer case cracked linked pics inside

ok I guess I have a couple of problems/questions, I will start by giving the facts ok, coming home from work on the highway, I was just crusing still under boost reading about 10 vacume and all of a sudden the gague went to 0 vacume and the car spuddard a little bit so I lay off the gas all the way to the exit I get off of, stop at the light and then try and go here is where the problem comes in I put it in first, and it studders and goes a couple inches and stalls out (like when you let the clutch out with not enough gas) so i try it again same thing, try second gear same thing, try first again and here a grinding screaching nosie coming from some where car wont move with out this noise and does not want to go all but 2inches, so I call someone and they tow me using a tow rope to out of the way and in nutural the car made the same screaching noise when being towed, I just had a clutch act 2100 put in and 6 puck disk with resurfaced flywheel, my question is I had about 200 on them and wasnt beating on it much at all maybe once or twice (not lauching it at all just a couple of red line shifts) so is it possible I shattered the clutch plate or disk, or does this sound like more of the tranny shitting the bed. And last what are the symptoms of a bad tranny??? (car was towed on a flat bed after getting out of the way of traffic if any one needed to know that) so please help me!!!! my dsm owns me I should just bend over and tell it to just give it to me up the ass because that pretty much the only bad thing it has not done yet!
 
Well, with the car off and the transmission in neutral, it shouldn't be turning at all when the car is being towed. This leads me to believe that its something related with something else. Check axles, CVs, where the axle hooks up to the transmission. Does it make a weird noise at idle with the car in neutral? Maybe your clutch isn't disengaging.
 
It boosted up alittle cause cause something is causing drag in the drive line. And it did it while rolling in nuetral? I think you might want to look at you CV's and hubs. Jack up the nose and spin the wheels by hand and see if you can identify where this noise is coming from. I hate to say it but I think it is a tranny problem. When a final drive goes bad they do some weird things. Mine blew up and split the case in half but amazingly would still roll around under its own power (with no fluid in the tranny). If you dont see anything wrong with the axles or the hubs inspect the tranny very, very, carefully you'll find your problem and you might want to break out the KY :laugh:

No it does not make this noise well sitting in nurtral, The vac jumped when I was on the highway in 5th and about 15% throttle at most!, I will check the cv joints and axel hubs today, thanks. This car is a pain in the ass come spring I am selling it and going back to a rwd car!
 
I like to refer to my dsm as the bad girlfriend that you just cant get rid of. When she breaks down your sick of her shit and just want her to leave, but when it works, IT WORKS soo good ;) I feel ya though. Ive had so many problems with my pos but I still wouldnt get rid of her for nothin. Not even if I hit the lottery.

ok well here is what happened got to look at it today and yup transfer case has a big ass crack in it, and there is gear oil everywhere, I dont know why the the transfer case would just crack any ideas I herd there was a recall on them for the awd cars but I am fwd :( Is this going to be an expensive fix? check out the pics tell me what you think

Let me help ya out here. You have a Front wheel drive car. Front wheel drive cars do NOT have tranfer cases. Transfer cases or for transfering power to the rear wheels. Not flamin or pickin on ya Im just lettin you know. Second, I figured you broke it. I wish I had some pics of mine when it exploded. Way worse than that. I found a 1g tranny at my local junk yard for about 300 bucks. (nothin wrong with used equipment) Find one that came out of a car that was rolled or smashed, not one that has a good body, cause most likely it was the motor or tranny that got the car there. Swappin out the tranny takes like 2.5 hours if youve never done it before. Ive done it twice now and Ive got it down to 1hr 15min. :D If you have any questions feel free to PM me. I love to help. NOoooo!!!!!!!!! wtf I dont need this the car just got up and running for being down a little over a year, someone was saposed to help me do a 6 bolt swap but long story short, dont always trust friends sometimes there only out there to help themselves, the clutch went and he help me pull the motor and dissasemble everything and then left me hanging. At that point I did not know shit about cars, so I look read and with a little help managed to get the car running and have put just about 200 miles on it then this happens. I dont know If I want to fix it or just sell it, The rear case on the tranny which I mistaked for being the transfer case is the only part its cracked, so would it be possible just to replace the end of the tranny it seems as thats the part where the gears are in or would It just be about the same in price to replace the whole thing? I owe 6'g on the car should I part it out???
 
There is a place in New York called mitsubishigraveyard.com, try them. Like I said I paid 300 for a tranny from the junk yard. I didnt have to pay any shipping, and I put it in myself. Total cost, after seals and fluid, something like $430.00 after tax. I havent had any more problems since. If you owe that much I would just dive in and do it. Make sure you buy a Chiltons and read it thourghly, before you perform surgery, er work on the car :p You'll love it again, trust me. ;) :D
