Hey guys.. I have a 90 laser rs turbo and its fwd. My problem is that i keep breaking passenger side axles. I have brkoen 3 in the past week or so. All have broken in the same place. The knuckle on the inner joint keeps coming apart. I thought that it was the tranny mount, which I know was a problem. The bolt holes weren't the best, so if i was too hard on it, the bolts would pull out, causing the tranny to drop and the axle to break. However, the last axle i broke last night, the bolts were still in the tranny and it was sitting where it was supposed to be. However, the axle still broke in the exact same spot. The previous owner replaced every mount except for the tranny mount, however, the rubber was still in great conditon. The only problem i see with the mount, except for the holes being slightly stripped (fixed now) is that the metal bracket holding the rubber insert has to be slightly shifted forward (or the tranny has to be pried rearward) to line up the bolt holes. It seems as though the motor and tranny assembly is off somewhere.. but i can't tell where. Are there any other ideas??

It could be that the tranny has the wrong metal brackets that hold the mounts IE if it has the metal brackets that came off of an AWD it will shift the tranny into a position that will break axles.

People do weird sh*t sometimes.

This could be caused because the engine came out of an awd ( the front and rear mounts on the awd are different length than the fwd but bolt up with some extra effort but will break axles)

you could be breaking the axel because of torque reasons. meaning that your still riding oem axels with an aftermarket engine. the reason might that you need to upgraded lsd.....so check your differntial and you might be good... also aftermarket axels.... what you put in your car will determine the out come of it all..
