quebec,
Ok here's my story...
MY alt/waterpump/P.S. belt had been squeaking for the last few days then one night after coming back from work, it simply snapped. Since i'm not so far away from work, I thought it wouldnt be that bad to drive it home then repair it next morning since I thought it was only P.S. that went off...

On my way home (6-10 miles) my battery started to fade to death and I guess i got to overheat, but I couldn't tell, none of my gauges would work. I managed to get it to the nearest garage and when I popped the hood to check for further damage, i could hear my rad coolant boil. On the next day, the garage called me to tell my belt was replaced, battery charged and my coolant completely changed. The mech told me he had seen coolant traces all over the intercooler and all the way to the back of the car. Is that a leak or something, or is it just the overflow bottle that evacuated the coolant? Also, is there any other possible extensive damage to the engine? I feel the car is somehow slower, but it might also be that i get used to my DSM (had it for a week ½ now). Any thoughts? fouled spark plugs? burnt rings? possible boost leak now? anything else you could think of? or am i just paranoiac about this?

Anyway... please help a desperate new DSM owner...
Phil

P.S.: mods : BOV, TT on a 97 GSX with 59 000 miles.

Do a compression test. If you didn't have a belt around the waterpump, that will cause your car to overheat, and possibly warping the head.

You've burned up your first engine. :(
