on the way home from the races in philly last nite my car started stalling and knockin real loud so i pulled over and checked everything and noticed there was no oil at all in the motor..now my oil pressure gauge doesnt work so i couldnt keep an eye on it...now the car barely turns over, knocks pretty loud..the boost gauge's vacuem still reads 22 at idle and the car will drive fine now that i put 3 and a half quarts back in it...it knocks alittle.how can i fix it..?! rod bearings? main bearins>? do you have to pull the motor to put in the mains..?

Complete rebuild.

that's about the only safe way. good news is that a set of main and rod bearings from a reputable manufacturer (i got mine from napa) should only set you back about $150-$200 depending on what you get. i did my last rebuild for under $500 by doing all the labor myself.

I don't think he spun a bearing. That usually means theres metal shrapnel everywhere. Idipped the oil stick a few times while it was running and there wasnt anything on the dipstick. It was still pretty clean. Anyways, today were going to take the bottom end apart.

Does it matter if I mic. everything out? Or should we just go get the standard size bearings.

Are main bearings hard to replace. I did rod, not main though. Anyone have any suggestions for it? Do you have to lower the crank?

Also, Tim, if you see this. My dad said your car left a decent size oil puddle in a few spots in my driveway. You do have an oil leak somewheres. We will find it today.
