I installed a new Kenwood CD player in my 92 GSX yesterday. It works fine but the parking lights come on now when I start the car. I have a feeling that it has something to do with the blue wire in my connection to the power antenna but I'm not sure. I'm lost!!!! I really don't have a problem with the lights being on but I'd just like to know what's causing it.

I am at work right now anddon't have access to my kenwood manual, but it sounds like you f-ed up the wiring some how. The dimmer wire from the cd player usually hooks up to the parking lights. Whenever you turn your lights on, the dimmer on the cd player kicks in. It sounds like you hooked it up backwards......if your lights turn on when your cd player is on. Double check your dimmer wire

I bought the plug-n-play type harness from the car stereo shop where I got the CD player. You just match up the colors and solder them directly to the Kenwood wiring harness that comes with the radio. The only one that I was worried about was the orange illumination wire so I just tied it in with the red wire because there wasn't an orange wire to hook it to. Maybe I was suppose to just leave the orange wire unused, I'm not sure.

The Orange wire is what dims the cd player when the lights are on. You have that wire wire hooked up to the red (power), so your lights come on when you turn on the cd player. Un hook the orange wire!!!!

hehehehe ;)

There should be a "dimmer" wire that matches up with the "illuminting" wire. They may not be the same color. Are they labled?

There are no other unused wires left unless I hook it in with another wire like I did with the red one. I wonder what will happen if I unhook the orange wire and leave it unhooked? I'll check it out tomorrow to see if they are labeled or not. Thanks
