Ok, I have about 1800 miles on my engine w/2gpistons I dunno if the mods that I have would be pertinent to diagnosing but its pretty stock other than the pistons a cat back,frontmount, mbc set to 13psi,k&n bpr7es. I also have a small crack in my valve cover
well me and my wife were driving to Ellensburg which is quite far from where we live and we had been drivng for about 45 minutes maybe a little longer at about 90-100 mph I had been dipping in and out of boost quite frequently in 5th gear well anyways I was accelerating in 5th gear at WOT and I heard a pop which to me just felt like boost leak having expierienced blowing charge pipes before, and my car died. so then as i rolled off to a weigh station i popped my hood and I had quite a puddle of oil that leaked out of my valve cover which I expected. the silicone i had covering the crack fell off after 1000 miles and so I had a rag over it. yea pretty ghetto but whatever. so I started my car and it started just fine but the idle was surging pretty radically and if I blipped the throttle it would just die again, but if i started it again and let it try to idle it would eventually stabilize sometimes yes sometimes no, there was a faint trace of smoke from the back of my intake manifold but other than that there was'nt any visual sign of the headgasket being blown and the engine sounds fine. well anytime im in vacum the car will accelerate slowly but if I dip into postive boost say at 0 on my boost gauge the car bucks and stumbles and wont go anywhere and it sounds like its misfiring somewhat, i know that im not running on 3 cylinders or anything like that becuase i have expierienced that before well any diagnosis would be appreciated.. thanx pz.
