Balance shaft belt decided to break on my 91 TSI. What could have caused this? Thank god it didn’t take out the timing belt although severally damaged it but timing did not jump. When I did a head rebuild b4 my buddy had a balance shaft belt laying around so he gave it to me.. It was for a 2nd gen eclipse. Are they different maybe this caused it? Now I bought one from the dealer for my car. Just want to make sure that there isn’t anything else that could cause this before I put it all back together.

Thanks,

Tom

Yea it was brand new though and i got around 500 miles on it if that when it broke. Oh well couple days ago i changed the timeing and the V belt..hope it goes good now..
