hey all
bought a 96 TSI sunday, and i have some questions. as is always the case, a few problems seem to have magically showed up after i got the car home.
i was driving around and my anti-lock brake light came on.. but after i shut off the car and turned it back on, the light went away.. but then it kept coming on, and now it's prettymuch always on... and when the light is on, the anti-lock brakes don't work... imagine that.

also, when driving down the road, every bump causes a lot of shock noise from the front passenger side.. kind of a creaking/sqeaking noise

if you stop and turn the wheel.. or if you're going slow and do it.. a very loud.. creak.. comes from the front of the car.. seems to be predominantly from the passenger side, though it's kind of hard to tell because it's so loud.. i don't know suspension well enough.. but it doesn't make since to me that turning the wheel in place would cause the shock to make noise... is this possible? the noise is kind of hard to describe.. but if you've ever sat in a cruddy chair that needs some oil.. you can lean back reeaaall slow and it will make a creaking noise.. and if you go quickly it's a much more shrill squeak/squeal.. that's what i would compare it to... could it be from a shock even when turning in place?

also, i was told that the clutch had about 60 miles on it when i bought the car, and i have put 200 on the car since then.. and when you coast down the road with the clutch engaged you can faintly hear a metal against metal type of sqealing, but it's not very loud... it goes away completely if you dis-engage the clutch, and it is not as noticable if you give it gas... but that noise also comes from the front right...

i know that this has been a long post, but if anyone can help me diagnose any of these problems at all or give me some suggestions, i would very much appreciate that

thanks a lot!

hmm.. i just called chrystler, gave them my VIN, and they said that there are no open recalls on it.. so that sucks
anything else you think it might be?

and i noticed that the other noise that goes away when i disengage the clutch isn't just when decelerating, it's when accelerating too.. but it goes away if you give it just enough gas to maintain constant speed or if you disengage the clutch....

thanks again
