DSM scene in Portland

well last friday my dad moved to Portland right in the city and since i graduate high school this year my plan was to meet him out there and start college, since it's not worth $1500 to have my gs-t shipped ill have to sell it and get another dsm out there (gsx maybe? i hope) and im just wondering what the scene out there is like, ill probably be moving out there sometime around August or September.

Its quiet... Id like to start meeting more guys, it just seems like the portland dsms aren't running much. Salem has decent turnout for some meets in the summer I think, its 35-45 minutes away from the city I'd guess. Finding a GSX might be kinda tricky, but hell where isn't it tricky? If you do decide to move out post back, I know I'd be willing to attend group meetings, given work isn't in the way.

Well.. There is one of the fastest DSM's in the country about 20 miles north..
And one of the biggest Evo/DSM shops nearby.. Ha. It's fairly large up here, I don't think it's as large as some places in the east. But there's enough of us.

ill probably be taking a week of work sometime in the next month or two here to come out and see how it is for a week. i dont think finding a new car will be a problem, im willing to make a trip almost anywhere reasonable for the right car.

the dsm scene here in PA or atleast in my area is almost dead, i know maybe 4 other dsm owners around here but only ever talked to 1 of them.

There around but always parked as it oregon and rains and there is nothing to do.Maybe if you had a honda you can roll with like 30 mexicans on the freeway.Wait till summer time the dsm's will come out.

DSM specific meets are low but "car" meets in general are quite big. I have never attended the specific maker/vehicle meets (especially not the Nissan ones) but like going to the larger groupings. PSI and ER usually have quite a few meets and dyno days that bring varied cars.

I have been going to a Coffee and Cars meet on Sat over at the Airport way Starbucks. 8-10am By Ikea. Good mix of cars with a few EVO's. Would be nice to see a few DSM's.

There are a bunch of Ferraris and Lambos at the Cars & Coffee meets up this way. Its a pretty cool thing to go to. Is it mostly European cars down there also?

No its been more tunners cars since the guy who started it drives a Mazda. I would say the most cars has been maybe 30, but not bad for 8am on a Sat with crappy weather. There has be upto 6 evos there, Supercharged Vett's and mustangs, Turbo S2000's and other random cars.

If you're looking for a "scene" around here get a wrx,seems like i see atlest 50 of them every day while driving to work.I dont know if there is much of a dsm "scene" around here,but there are definately alot of fast and well built dsm's and evo's around here.There are also some good shops here as well,like p.s.i.,english etc...

everyone has a suby around here... hell i even have one . i've been to cars and coffee meets over here on the east coast and it's all exotics and super cars.

im looking forward to meeting some of the guys at the shops. i have friends that are mechanics and work at body shops, but most shops around here dont take me serious because im young (18, still legal)

when i hop down to english racing one of these days to check out the shop, im down for a meet for some of you portland guys, my dsm just got put back on the road and im in need of some fine tuning, but she runs great right now. just needa advance my timing and up the boost from EWG pressure (19-22PSI) and ill be up and running with the big boys, i also needa hit a dyno but yeah man on whidbey island im the same way, i have a few select dsmer friends one just moved back to TN, which sucks and the other is in the process of trying to replace his wrecked talon, so at the moment its just me and this 1G guy who runs 12s which isnt bad. but maybe ill try and get him to come.

hell ya!! mine is still undergoing 6 bolt swap im a noob still but tryin to learn as much as possible but im currently stuck on where the rest of my lines go and im not good with diagrams so im tryin to get someone out here to help me get her running but its hard lately everyone i get a hold of is busy..... i want to get her up and running sooo bad!!! its been since last september since ive heard her run.... anyone willing to help me out PLEASE dont hesitate to say so. i want to get up and running and going to meets with all you.

i also have buddies with 2g's to attend if they arent busy.... if my car is running im down name the date time and place i will be there

Yeah get a scoobie and go on over to PRE and hang out with Jason, and listen how he talks his shop up like it's the only shop in town and the factory bows to him and trashes everyone else. Yeah let him work on your WRX and get first class service however you take anything else in there and you better have deeeeep pockets and make sure you inventory all your replaced parts. I will never set foot in there ever and will continue to trash Jason and PRE forever. Charged me 3k and misdiagnosed my engine problems and then had the nerve to keep a perfectly good head after telling me it was trash, hung my intercooler way to high to be remotely effective. Just beware...

It's the same for me here near Yamhill, Or. I hardly ever see a another DSM out here. A week or so ago I passed a green 1G coming down the mountain and waved howdy, but we were going too fast to stop and say hello.

I'm contemplating a trip up to English Racing sometime in April. It'd make for a nice road trip.
