Hello,

I am sure someone would notice this car on this forum?

Purchased this vehicle in May from an individual in Murrysville - Since purchase, I have spent $500 getting the brakes/rotors replaced, a few little things, etc. Other than that, the car runs well. Car has a new 8/12 inspection. I was looking for a DSM like this for a while, finally pulled the trigger. Car runs/drives well, just decided this car is a bit much for a DD. Here's the description:

Pics at the bottom. Bought it for 6000 early this year after selling my jeep.

1991 Eagle Talon TSI AWD 96,000 miles on body.
17" rims
Automatic Transmission
Replaced Auto Transmission with LSD and 4000 stall converter
NO RUST
Remanufactured block 4g63T ~ 35,000 miles ago, rebuilt with
new rings
New gaskets
ARP head studs
Burschur rebuilt turbo & installed new alumium radiator, intercooler
Ported intake
16g Turbo 21psi
Aggressive cam
3" magna flow exhaust w/ cat
AEM UEGO controller/Intake
MAF translator
Wideband Controller
Turbo Timer
Walbro fuel pump
Big injectors
Sent to IveyTune in NJ for final tuning last year.
AWD DYNO 260HP @ THE WHEELS

This car is a beast! New alternator, rear brakes & rotors this may, new magnaflow high flow cat for inpection , fresh inspection (emissions also) until 8/12. Tons of receipts for additional stuff not listed also in records. Using it as my DD, but it really should be running at a track, not sitting in rush hour traffic everyday. Car runs and drives fine. The aggressive cam makes the idle a little lumpy, but car runs and drives well. Interior is all there, no rips, but it does have some wear consistent with a 20 year old car. Paint is 7/10 -some chipping/scratching, etc.

All documentation for all PO and current owner repairs/work. Dyno charts included.

Just like to add that I am an adult, and have owned many different types of cars - I can answer any specific questions you have about this cars mechanical condition via email - leninpgh @ a o l dot com

Price going back up to $6000. just spent the week end looking at some used cars that guys are trying to sell for 6-7k. I know what i have, and there is difference between kids that are broke that try to buy and sell vs adults that do the same.

some jack ass pm'ed me from NY and explained that even 5k is alot for a "bolt-on car" and offered me 3grand picked up.

That sounds more then fair tbh.
Truth. You should see some of the gorgeous fully-built 1G cars on the Link forums that guys struggle to get $4500-$5000 for and eventually wind up as part-outs.

Well put. Your car isn't worth 6000$ man. Sorry to say. With this economy, you will be lucky to get 3500$. 3000 is fair for that car.

And i feel bad for you for buying that car for that much.

I have a fairly built DSM, that is literally the cleanest DSM I have ever seen. It has no problems whatsoever and I don't think I'd even get $4000 (a.k.a. you can't ever sell a DSM and get even 50% of your money back) :ohdamn:... I'm trying to trade for an a4 + cash if anything

LOL, hate to be a dick, but I wouldn't pay a penny over 2000 for that car. Body is decent at best, rims are horrible, motor bay looks extremely neglected, and it has ABS.

$6000 will buy you an immaculate turn key 500+ whp dsm.

well, that sux... You guys have all been at this longer than me with these cars. judging by the lack of responses for prospective buyers, not just here, starting to look like this car just ain't worth that much....

I guess I gotta decide whether to stick with it, or dump it for a loss....

came out way ahead with the last car I had - ended up selling it for about a grand more than I sold it for, but it was a low mile, R title new gen Jeep.

I over estimated the demand for and value of these cars.... I come from a vw background and there is at least a large number of prospectives out there...

As it is right now, pretty sure I am going to keep it. at least I know what I have, and there's not a whole bunch left to do to it.....

oh,

Rims ain't my choice - you got any for sale?:hmm:

Thanks,

Len

Just for comparison's sake:

That's $5500 for a rust-free 1G from the Carolinas that has never seen PA road salt with a more-desirable manual trans; a reliable daily-driver as well with roughly 70% more horsepower in current form than the car you have listed....and he doesn't exactly have people beating down his door to get the car. ;)

gotcha. just for the record, this car was NEVER exposed to pittsburgh winters until this year. it was garage kept. this car has no rust on the undercarriage. none. clean as whistle.

still doesn't mean its worth what i paid, but i am sure this thing is one of a very few around here with NO rust....

I may come out to the meet you guys are planning. If I keep im going to need some folks that know their way around these cars to help a brotha dial it in....

That's fine.

Please don't take it as me trying to insult you for asking that much- it's a free country, you can ask whatever price you please. I was just giving you a basis of comparison, that's all. :thumb:

Anyone's welcome to join! You don't even need a DSM, as Eric's already pointed out in the other thread. LOL

The last meet I had (or should I say Erik hosted), I was in my Kia. Yeah, it sucked, but I enjoyed spending time with my friends more...and I would hope you have the same views as I do.

If it runs as clean as it looks, I'd jump all over it for $2800.

Why the huge drop? Has something happened to it? Assuming it's still in excellent mechanical shape, I'd probably start at around $3500 or so and drop from there if needed...that leaves some wiggle room and isn't too far off it's actual value.
