what's up everybody. i've heard conflicting stories about installing a turbo timer. the timer i'm looking at is the hks type-1. now currently i have a viper 800 alarm system in the vehicle with all the bells and whistles you can put into it (glass sensor/merc switch/sirens etc.) the car (1995 talon tsi awd 5spd) already had the factory eagle/chrysler alarm in it and we (more me helping and laerning than installing) just put the alarm in over the facotry so that it worked together.

my question is will the viper 800 still work effectively with a turbo timer? since the key is out of the ignition and the vehicle is running will i be able to click "arm" and have the doors lock or will the car be like "wtf are you doing? i'm still on"? thanks for the input!

this has been posted before but i don't remeber if anyone ever came up with a solution or not. I used to work in Circuit Citys car audio department as an installer, and i was looking into this myself. We had direct dealer connections with DEI (viper). and i called them to ask them this same question. The tech told me that you do have do some wiring with the ignition wires so that the alarm knows whats going on. I don't remember exactly what needs to be done, but i know that if you just put the TT on you will not be able to arm the car while its turbo timing.

don't know about the viper but i had to disconnect my excalibur cause it unlocked the doors everytime the engine shut off. Meaning that i couldn't leave my car till it cut off so i could lock the doors. It works perfect with the stock alarm.

I have an Arctic Start* alarm/starter/timer combo. and whenever its timing i cant arm the car or it shuts off. when its done timing it automatically locks, but doesnt arm?

anything i can do about this?
and does anyone know how to extend the timer? its like 30 secs. right now so i havent been using it. and what is safe? time wise...

I dunno who your replying to so ill jump in anyways...!

its a timer that came w/ my alarm/starter.
my alarm has a turbo* mode, and a timer* mode.
although i cant tell the difference. anyways, the timer is too short so i dont use it, id like to. thats why i got the alarm. cause of its useability.
if i could just figure out how to lengthin my timer id be a happy man!

any ideas?
Anyone?

(i appologise for stealing the post!)

-I have a Viper(don't know the #), and a GReddy TT, OEM alarm had been disabled, alarm was installed in a shop, TT was installed myself with an HKS harness, door lock 30 seconds after I close the door, lock can be lock unlock regardless the operation of the TT, I think the alarm is working off the signal from the key reminder switch, not the igntion switch, $.02.

-Dr. Suess, what kind of TT do you have?

my TT is part of the alarm. like i control it the same way i control my alarm. its a neat alarm system. cost me $570cdn installed. well worth the money if you have a turbo.

just to clarify, its not a seprate TT. its PART of the alarm/starter/timer system!

-My GReddy TT, I need to calibrate in the RPM, if I want to use the auto function of the TT, I think your might have some similar function which you need to tap into the ignition or the speed sensor for it to work.
