Ok i'm doing my timing belt soon and was wondering if anyone has ever used a napa autoparts timing belt kit? It comies with the pulley's and the belts to do the entire job. I know there are people who say use oem but i don't beleive that crap.

I wouldn't use anything but OEM for such an important part. Hell, I passed on aftermarket axle seals.

I only ask this b/c i know of a person who used the napa kit and a year later things are still great. Plus napa has good parts from what i have learned and heard in the past. I'm sure you couldn't tell oem and napa parts apart from each other but i just wanted to know if anybody has had trouble with the kit.

if i don't use OEM i use parts from napa. i just don't know if i would go anything other then OEM on the timing belt. it's such an important part and i've heard bad stories about other belts that weren't OEM (havn't heard anything at all about napa belts)

Napa sells Gates belts, which alot of people say are not very good for our cars.

FYI I just bought a Napa belt for my 90 ($32 wiht my dads hookup) and I CANT get the timing marks in the middle of the cam gears to line up NO MATTER WHAT I DO. Im beginning to think the teeth are not accurate on the belt

hmm.. I actually heard elsewhere that Gates belts are pretty good.

anyhoo, as far as the timing marks, I think you need to put the belt on with it one tooth off so that when you release the tensioner everything will line up. not sure though, might want to check the VFAQ's
