Shift stick replacement?

The actual stick that holds my shiftknob had apparently snapped and the dealer didn't tell me. We just found this out when the shiftknob just came off and there was a piece of metal in the knob. How do you replace that stick? There are no threads left to add a new shift knob.

You could install a short throw shifter. The ebay link below is the type of shifter you want and probably the cheapest option you'll find.

If I install an eBay one, it won't break easily will it?

Well, I'm surprised the original one broke. Solid steel of that diameter shouldn't really be stressed that much on a shifter. I'm sure the the ebay one will last if used correctly.

The PO probably couldn't get into "drive" and was wondering why there were two brake pedals.

If you just replace it with a short throw it will be fine. Then you have an awesome short throw and it feels like a fancy sports car

My step dad said he was going to fix it himself...let's see how this goes. He's a machinist though so I'm hoping he's good at what he does like he seems to be, just need to remove it .
