i want a TURBO. I now that a 1st is faster cuz it is less hevey than a 2nd gen and is faster by a little bit. I dont like the body style of 1st gen but 2nd is just to damn much for me right now, but i guess if i could find one of resonable price than i would go for it. And also what is the best year for frist gen, like the one with the least amount of turbo troubles and stuff.. Thanks people thanks alot

2nd gen GSTs are around 6-7gs... and yeah i would say buy what you really want so you dont have regrets

im about to get a 90 laser rs turbo (YEAH!!!) I like the first gen styling SO much more than the second gen. I know I'm in the minority on this one, but hey, its just my .02

I agree with PIMP I like the 1g's better. Just depends if you like the ricer look or not I guess. Still it's not all about looks no crankwalk, Bigger injecters and turbo all the expensive stuff.

For a 1G, I'd go mid year 92. You'd get the 4 bolt rear, big brakes and 6 bolt motor. At worst, you don't get the brakes, but that can be upgraded easily. of course, AWD is my preference.

For 2G, I'd go 96. I like the smiley face and short wing so much better than the factory rice wing on the 97-99. Just me though. And, of course, AWD. Only visual upgrade for the 96 that is needed is wheels and for that I do like the stock 97-99 rims.

1G can be made to go faster, easier and cheaper than a 2G. Styling is up to you. I love them both and on certain days, like one style more than the other, depending on my mood. Other than crankwalk, which is HIGHLY overrated and HIGHLY inflated as far as how many are afflicted, the 2G is a very reliable car. A 1G will have, well, 10-12 years of rust, creaks, wear and tear. Get past that or find an immaculate one, and again, a great car. Whether 1G or 2G, a DSM REQUIRES TLC, just like any sports car. If you plan to beat the piss out of it, not change the oil or stupid easy stuff like that, and then get upset when it runs like crap, then a DSM is not for you. Not saying that you will, but just letting you know Daily Service and Maintenance is required.

I have a 91 Laser RS I am in love with it...I bought it for 1000 and fixed it up..Now its great..I only have one complaint about it . and thats the transmission..They suck at making good transmissions...But the rest of the car is great...

Rich put it very perfect as far as I can tell...

1G 90-92.5(may 92) have the 6 olt motors which is appealing...but if you go with a 92 you also get the doper body syle stationary headlights and the 4 bolt rear end...

I really don't think a 1g is noticably faster unless its in perfect order. Yes the turbo is bigger, but once you really start modding any of the 2genereations they are very close in performance! There also isn't too much you can do to the body of a 1g to make it look any better,IMO. .02
