My 1995 Eagle Talon ESi's timing seems to be off, its the 420a Engine.
After changing the water pump I had to re-time the car.
For the Cam Gears. I made sure the timiing marks ((the grooves on the side of the cam gears)) both aligned with each other, the cranks arrow was aligned with the arrow mark on the engine. I put the tensioner on, everything seemed smooth.
Both cams still aligned tensioner on, alan wrech out of the tensioner(slid back and forth with ease).
I rotated the crank twice, lining up the crank timing mark each time. Lining the timing mark up the second go around. The cams were still perfectly lined up with one another.
All though I started the car, took a lot to start it, had to give it some gas. The idle is really harsh until you rev it up and hold it at about 3k rpms, then the idle drops down and chops out.
It's never had this problem until I installed the new water pump and had to re-time the car, but I seriously had no idea whats wrong with it now. Everything appeared to be timed. It was all lined up.
Any help would be appreciated
Better question is would the car even start, and idle/drive at all if miss timed? I can start the car its rough pretty much dies out, sometimes the idle go to normal, until put into drive then its horrid(sounds like its miss timed, but I seriously would be at a loss I've done a timing belt 4 billion times with my other 420As everything was lined up 100%) I drove it around a little bit, if I let off the gas the car instantly drops to about 300 400 RPM, or dies, if i keep my foot on the gas its fine. Also when it dies my oil light comes on, checked the oil it has a little over min. Reverse is out on the car i havent gotten around to a new transmission thatll be next after I can get this problem taken care of.
