ECU question MD321912 manual ecu in auto.

Eclipse Talon Laser Galant 3000GT Stealth ECU ID Reference
^^^chart^^^(c) Applied Computer Technology

I have an automatic 96 GST. My ECU part number is MD321912. From this chart it appears that an ecu out of a manual federal spec 96 gst would work in my car. Can anyone verify this? I have been told by several people it will not work because it is made for a manual gst ,even though it is the same part number. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Don't think it will work because the manual ecu has different air fuel maps than a automatic but yet they may share the same numbers on the case

No the numbers may be the same but I think they have diferent air fuel maps and shift points

yes i think they will work or interchange but dont hold me to that. the only diference i would see in the 2 would be rev limiter. i think the rev limiter on a manual is higher than a auto.

I have tried this.. A manual ecu in an auto it does work. Car ran and drove fine but it did pull a fuel pressure solenoid code so I put my auto one back in.. while it was in there though i noticed nothing different.

Forgot to mention the ecu in my auto was a 96 and i put in a 96 manual ecu.. seemed to work fine

As the author of that list I can tell you that Mitsubishi says the correct ECU for your 96 2G Turbo FWD is MD321912 regardless of if its a manual or automatic.
Unlike the 1G's where there is a difference in the engines used with in the manual and automatics the 2G uses the same engine and the same ECU.

Technically...incorrect. There was different injectors and turbos used, the engines themselves were the same.

2g used same T25 and same 450cc injectors in auto and manuals, so theyre all interchangable for the most part like you said.

Point was made...i just wanted to bust your nards a bit haha
