Ok I just bought the car like this the previous owner claims that one day his clutch wouldn't go into gear after about 3000 miles. Now there sounds like something moving around in there when its running..I was thinking throw out bearing its a act 2100 clutch is this a known problem?

Well, the clutch doesn't "go into gear".

You're probably going to have to pull the transmission and see what happened. Could be a few things.

Yes that's what I thought. I hope the clutch ain't trashed!!!

when i got my car it the clutch was doing kinda the same thing but it would slip real bad and not go into gear some time, when i dropped the tranny there was a bolt from the pressure plate stuck in the TOB, maybe when they put your new clutch in they didn't use lock tight on the bolts, try taking the rubber part where your fork goes into your tranny for your clutch off and shine i light in there see if you can see any thing

I'm going to tear the tranny out tomorrow anyways I want to check for the lightweight flywheel I was told there was one in there... Is there a walk through for a tranny removal?

Open up the inspection plate and take a look at the flywheel. I Have seen flywheels come loose from improperly torqued bolts. Have you checked the Fluid level/slave and master cylinders?

LOL...No I haven't checked the fluid probably one of the first things I should of looked at.

Yea but there's a lot of chattering in the tranny.

Yeah I know...IMO I would check the fluid anyway. The chattering could be the throwout bearing as you've mentioned. I would also check the flywheel bolts, make sure the flywheel is NOT loose.

Are you 100% sure the rattling is coming from the tranny?

do you know what kind of clutch is in there? when i was running my light weight flywheel and 2600 with a 6 puck it chattered not horibble bad like my twin disk sounds but did make some noise it is normal....

Well I said it was a act 2100..And the tranny wont go into gear with the car running.

Ok...I have the tranny ready to be pulled how am i suppose to remove the driver side axle? Do i have to remove the wheel and all to get it out?

What am I suppose to do?

you have to take your tire off remove the big nut that holds your cv joint in ( I think the boli is 1 1/8 but im not sure) the caliper and take the bolts that go to your shocks off then the assembly should slide out of your way and you will be able to remove the axle

So I do have to remove it...What about the carrier bearing and all that?

I GOT THIS FROM VFAQ:

Driver side:

1. Remove the tie rod cotter pin and disconnect the tie rod end
2. Remove the brakeline bracket from the strut
3. Remove the lower strut bolts (17mm)
4. Remove the axle carrier bearing from the block
5. Pull the hub down and pull the driver axle out of the transaxle. This will pull the axle far enough away from the transaxle to allow removing it without the axle getting in the way.

If this works for you, use it. If you plan on replacing any of the CV joint boots, use Method 2 or 3. If you use Method 1 skip over the Method 2 and 3 sections.
