Ebay axles?

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

If you shop at an Auto Parts store, you're better off buying REBUILT axles for our cars than NEW ones.

The new axles are ALL made in China, and judging by the quality of the Chinese turbos flooding eBay you'll be changing lots of axles if you buy any that are made in China. The rebuilt axles are all rebuilt from OEM cores, so you'll receive an OEM axle with new boots and new joints.

I completely respect your opinion on turbos and would take it as gospel. You have even helped me out on many occasions with your very informative posts on turbos. But as for the new axles coming out of china they are actually quite good. I work for my Dad at his parts wharehouse and we have sold the chinese axles for the last two years and have had an extremely low amount of defects. We used to have 10 times as many problems with defective axles when we used to sell rebuilt ones. So as long as it is a respectable company that you are getting the chinese axles through than there shouldnt be any problems.

While this may be 100% true for a replacement axle on a 4 cylinder Honda Accord with 170k on it, I'm talking about reliable axles for our cars that are driven hard and launched regularly.

A good buddy of mine once owned a '92 Laser RS Turbo FWD and was having HORRIBLE luck with NEW Chinese axles that he was buying from his local Auto Parts store. He twisted the end off of (2) of them inside the transmission. This, of course, is a huge pain to repair because you must pull both sides apart in order to drive the broken stub out of the opposite side. He finally gave up and bought USED OEM axles, and the problem mysteriously went away. We're not talking about a car making massive HP either....I think he had a G50 pushing around 20psi on the stock 6-bolt; and FWD's aren't known for excessive traction.

The fact that the Chinese can build a 100% new, supposedly "reliable" axle and sell it for $59.95 would freak me out as much as their $195 16G turbos do.

You are entitled to your opinion but believe me these arent just going on some old piece of crap accord and lasting with no problem. You have had one experience with chinese axles where I have had many of thousands. Its like me telling you that you dont know anything about turbos. Where as I have already expressed how much credit I give on that subject.

I appreciate the credit you've given me, but I'm speaking from experience.

I've tested the eBay GT35R and it died in 400 miles....I'd NEVER buy another one. My buddy has had experience with new Chinese axles, and three sets of axles and a whole lot of man hours later, he'll never buy another one of those either.

It doesn't mean you have to get yours rebuilt....simply find a vendor that sells rebuilt axles. Your axles will be turned in as a rebuildable core.

Many parts stores sell products that are rebuilt by A/1 / Cardone, which is the largest supplier of Remanufactured Auto Parts on the east coast....possibly in the United States. Sometimes their products will be relabeled depending on what parts store they're sold at, but they're still serviced by Cardone.
