okay this question has a purpose I know kinda dumb but just a thought... I may be able to get ahold of an OEM gasket kit for cheap but heres the thing, the guy told me its for a 6 bolt and of course I have a 7bolt. I want to know is there any use I can get out of this kit Im really just in need of the front seal o-ring and Im going to purchase a cometis head gasket sepreatly, what else may I be able to use out of this kit?

THANKS KEN

If you want just the front seal "o ring" then go buy one from your local auto parts, or local dealership individually.

If it's going to cost you $150 to buy a few things here and there then go ahead and buy the 7bolt gasket kit from one of the vendors. One of them has it for around $200 even.

Yes the oem kit i can get for maybe 40 off a friend either that or I seen a nice one from extremepsi (220) the only thing im skeptable about is the stock head gasket that comes with it idk if that would with stand the 20psi I will be running daily or just go with the cometic type?

Another thing if someone knows the answer off the top of thier head is it possible to change a front seal without affecting timing, because doesnt the crank pulley only go on one way? I just should mark the cam gears just incase thier's movment or just take it to a shop so I dont have to worry about breaking anything? LOL

If you can a brand new full OEM gasket kit for $40 off of a friend, I'd say go for it. The valve cover and spark plug gaskets will pretty much pay for the whole kit, as they cost about $40 brand new from a dealer. Then you can just sell the gaskets off that you can't use (or even just resell the whole kit) and make some money back if you'd like. Just keep in mind you won't be able to use most of the gaskets.

No, you can't change the front crank seal without taking off the timing belt. You might be able to do a half-assed job and not have to redo the timing (although I'm not even sure that's possible), but that would just be a dumb decision to even consider. I would remove the timing belt and redo the timing after you replace the front crank seal. Also, if you're in need of a timing belt job, obviously now is the time to do it! Make sure all of your timing belt components are in good working order and that the timing belt looks good. Better to be safe than sorry.

yeah I plan on getting a timing belt kit to for 200 i seen on buschur since my belt is soaked in oil...... I was just trying to see if I can eliminate the oil drip problem by myself. I have a haynes manual and mechanically inclined but I still might send my car off to a mechanic for them to do the timing belt and pull the head for a rebuild and timing....

I priced everything as far a a new crank pully front case, water pump, timing components and gadket kit and its right around a $1000 for parts alone does that sound about right? or should I take a different route like a rebuild kit oe even a low millage engine?

sorry for all these random questions LOL
