There are posts on both the manual tensioner and on the timing belt walking.

Bottom line is the manual tensioner isn't for daily drivers and the belt walking is caused by the either the tensioner arm pivot wearing out or one of the pulleys not being installed right and being slightly cockeyed.

I Have the same problem on my 96 gsx, i had to replace the auto tensioner then i put the timing belt back and now it makes a noise like the belt is rubbing on something. I think its coming from the manual tensioner not being positioned right. Does anyone know how the manual tensioner bearing is supose to be installed?

I bought mine from dinosaurparts had that same problem in the past. The belt would start rubbing on the motor mount bracket. Its Always right the second time though.

I drove my car like that for bout 2 months because i had people telling me that it was normal.
It was driving me nuts i had to take all apart for the 3rd time.
What you think is that i am doing wrong?
