Ok, so, I have a 1991 laser rs turbo.

As of last month there has been an ongoing issue with the synchronizer going into second. It grinded going in but the gear was fine and drove extremely well. Sometimes it didn't even grind and slipped in smoothly.

Today, I accelerated from a stop light just like normal (i'm very light on this car, don't run it hard) and all of a sudden... I have no second gear, I can't shift it at all. I cannot move the shifter over past the vertical line of 1st and 2nd.

The car still accelerates from a stop, but as I said I cannot shift AT ALL. WTF? This had no prior problems accept the synchro. Any thoughts as to what I should do? Or what it may be?

Check and make sure that the cables are still attached to the transmission housing. I had one pop off mine and I was stuck in the 3-4 gate.

Clutch is the same as it always has been, it's still has it's firmness. The clutch is brand new, (less than 10k miles on it). And I got all that installed professionally.

As far as the housing I will check that out, where is it relative to the uicp? Again it's in a 1g.

You're looking for where the cables attach to the transmission. Should be right underneath your BOV.

Make sure they're tight and you can't jiggle them. Check to see that both c-clips are still there, a couple inches aft of the pivot points.

We also just had the same problem with our VR4. It ended up being the cable housing under the dash that let free. Unfortunately I was about 160 miles from home when it happened with the sun setting. Luckily we have our own trailer and truck, so he was able to come get me without paying for towing.
