I brought home a new car. I now have 5.5 dsm's at my house right now.
I bought it mostly for parts, but now im onto the engine.
The guy that sold it to me, said the engine is actually good and he recently compression tested it and came out at 180 across the board.

The car is a 93 awd, and I'm told it was swapped with a 6 bolt engine, because a 93 woulda had a 7 bolt.

Now I thought that perfect from the factory is 164...

Where would this guy be getting 180 from??

Is that even possible?

Thanks,

Mike

Ummm not sure if I would believe this guy. 93 should already have a 6bolt? Its my understanding that the 7 bolt didnt come along till 95. Also I think 100% is 185.

Now that I think about it the 185 iis for a 7 bolt I am not sure if the 6 bolt would be different?

they switched in 92.5 to a 7 bolt.

i'll probally just go rent a tester today and figure this out.

The 1G 7-bolt began it's run in mid '92.

OP - Don't trust the word of a man selling a non-running car. Compression test it for yourself. If it pulls 180 across the board, it probably has higher compression pistions like the 2G's have.

what im really worried about is it having NT pistons in it.
I'm considering this as a donor motor for my new baby.
