I am looking into purchasing a CAI off ebay. I know that I am taking a risk because the last time I purchased one it was an advertised CAI but it was actually a short ram that didn't even fit on my car. My real question is has anyone purchased a CAI off ebay for a 2g GS/RS that works fine? And if you remember the link, it would be much appreciated.

All my friends question me for doing this, they say you get what you pay for and they say I am not going to have the best parts for my car by going the cheap way and doing ebay. I understand what they are saying to a point, but my argument is...a pipe is a pipe, and why should I drop 300 on a cai when eventually I am going to turbo it anyways?

mostly true but make sure you get a good filter also while buying on ebay make sure you read everything on the ad. If you something other than advertised most of the time its easy getting the right part

Your right on that. After having the ebay intake for a while I was thinking of getting an AEM kit but than after reading some posts and thinking about it, its just a pipe and a filter in the end. One is just more fancier. They both do the same thing: filter air.

If you're just planning on turbo'ing it, save your money and don't even bother with a new intake.

CAI are different throughout the companies you buy from. First they will position differently, for example: Ebay CAI sit a little high in the opening of the bumper, AEM sit just flush with the bottom of the bumper, and Injen usually sits right in the opening of the bumper. Injen and AEM usually get more are forced on them. Aem will tend to pick up watter standing on the roads quicker than the Ebay ones. If you are looking for maximun HP just for number, R&D from the big company's will aid, but if you just want performance and don't worry about that extra 1 or 2 Hp then go the cheaper way. I have used both AEM V2 and a cheap ebay on my old RS. I personally like the AEM V2 better for the sound, gas milage, and power. But you won't catch me spending that much money on one again.

I would use an ebay pipe with a quality filter like K&N or AEM. They can be bought at a regular parts store usually. I got my AEM at advanced auto for like 40 bucks.
