I tried installing the manifold today and I am have a real problm getting the bolts in. The problem is I can't get a socket on any of the bolt heads once they are down to the manifold since the recess area won't allow a socket to get in. How did you guys go about tightening them down? What bolts did you use?

Mine still has the studs. You can get the box end of a wrench down in there to remove/install them. You can get a socket on all but 2 I think.

I usually bolt the turbo to the manifold along with all associated parts (oil feed/return, O2 housing, water lines...) and lower the manifold, turbo setup in as one unit. This significantly speeds up your install times. :thumb:

so you guys obviously didn't have to do anything special, The engine isn't in the car right now so it should really easy to install. Is it because I am using bolts and not studs? I know I can't get a socket in any of the recessed areas. I thought maybe someone else may have had a problem and had a way of getting around it.

How are you using bolts? They should be studs. That way you just throw the nuts on and tighten em down with a wrench. You cant just pick up some bolts at the hardware store and use them.

Actually, as long as the threads aren't damaged you very well can, but that lower middle one is gonna be a bear to get on.

I used 4 bolts (2 stock long bolts, 2 shorties from the hardware store). Crescent end of the wrench works fine.

+1 for the "put it all togethor outside of the car and drop it in as a whole".

You aren't suppose to put washers on the front two bolts. I used the FP hardware kit which is 2 O2 housing bolts for the front. If you put OEM spring washers under them good luck getting them out, I had this problem. The front two require no washer and just an open end wrench to tighten them down, you don't have to use a socket.

I also had to hit up the hardware store. I wish they said something about it on the FP website. That's ok. Got me a 1 1/2" bolt and a 1 1/4" bolt and threw them on. Yeah, it does get difficult to get a handle on them once they get into the recessed area, but you gotta do the best you can. You know what, if you double up washers on those two front short bolts, then the head will be above the recessed areas and you can then put your socket on there with ease. Good luck.
