How do I know if the car really has B&M tranny

I am going to buy a car, seller said he had a B&M tranny up grade...
how do I know he really had a B&M on it?
how about the B&M shifter? anyway I can know?
he said he had performance upgrade...
anyway I can found out if he don have recipe?

I never heard of a B&M tranny, I highly doubt that it has one as I doubt a B&M tranny exist for a DSM, I know there is a B&M short shifter though. Pretty nice peice been looking into it for years myself just haven't had the time to buy one will soon though. If you want to see what one looks like just go to Mitsubishi Turbo Performance Parts from Mach V Motorsports look at drivetrain then shifters. Take off the center counsol and see if it's it. Hope that helps out.

Well if he installed a shift shorter you'd definitely be able tell the by driving it but if you're speak of a transmission upgrade I don't think you'll be able notice any difference. But doesn't he have a receipt? There must be some kind a reference invoice to prove he did upgrade the transmission. Try calling B&M.

B&M has been remanufacturing transmissions for a very long time. I have never heard of one for our cars though. But I don't look for auto upgrades.

I check on B&M, they only make short shifter for DSM. But it he still states he rebuilt the transmission call the shop. Every shop keeps invoices for future reference.

If he says there is b&m short shifter, its easy just take the console off and the B&M symbol should be engraved on the stick itself.

it is a mazda MX3...

so I have to give up my DSM dream for now...

banded rear axle, twisted front end, electrical problem, drain battery, burned ECU... low compression of 2nd and 3rd cyclinder...

my DSM is haunted...
Maybe is time to move on...

I will try to check the 92 MX3 out...
it comes with the TSW Turn 7 rims and stock rim with new rubber
150,000 miles on the car. Car comes with factory wheels and 17" tsw wheels both sets have new tires on it. Also included in the car is 2 12"kickercomps,300 by 2 crossfire amp.,lighting cap and all rockford fosgate comp. sets. Has bnm short shifter,tnm lowering kit,20% tint, new cluth,after market page alarm and a pressure plate.

He said he got titanium pressure plate, B&M tranny, rebuild engine...
He said he is ASE honda tech... lowering spring cost him 2000

i don want the sound system, because i don have enough money...
how much should the TSW turn 7 cost?

Still a good buy for 3500 with only the rim?
or should I ask for a cut?

what do you guys think?

B&M does not make a transmission for the mazda, maybe a short shifter. as far as 3500 for it....no! if the lowering springs cost dude 2 grand then he is a tool. only coil overs should cost that much! but in the end its your money. imo i think you should look else where...

Like turboglenn said. and 1800 is too much for what the car is. if this guy is on the real he will produce receipts for you to see what has been done to in. and if you are hell bent on getting this car, take a friend or relative that knows about cars to go with you. hell you could go to the local mechanic shop and ask one of them to go with you for a small fee.

i was in the car today, 40mph on 4th and shift down to 2nd... took off, pass two cars and then shift to 3rd, it was already 75mph... haha kool...

he said over size cam make the check engine light on, and it has ticking sound...
rev the car a bit keep constant rpm, sound disappear...
closed hood, no sound...
so question is do aftermarket over size cam cause engine light on? will it causes soft clicking sound?

There's no "b&m tranny" a cam cannot cause the check engine light to be on.. tell the dude to go sell his POS to some other idiot... DON;T buy it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Everything he has told you so far doesnt match up with everyone elses experiences. B&M tranny, cams causing CEL, 1/4 mile times, none of that is reasonable. He is really trying to screw you and you would be wise to steer clear of this clown. If you buy it the fault is going to be all on you since you have been warned by everyone here. Good Luck

I cannot believe this guy is feeding these lies to you. Be aware!!! Any time a check engine light is on, it could mean serious trouble. You don't know the car so you don't really know what's wrong. If that car does the 1/4 mile in 14sec. @ 120mph, it has some serious issues in the lower rpms. It would have like 400+ hp. In conclusion, like most have said, Do not buy this car! The seller has already lied.

Why are you even still considering buying this car after all the advice everyone has given to you? It's clear that he's lying to you, and what kind of certified mechanic doesn't keep his reciepts? We all know it's important to keep reciepts incase something messes up under warranty, if there was a "b&m tranny" for a mazda wouldn't you think he would have his reciepts for the warranty they should provide? Lowering springs for $2,000? Cam's causing the CEL light? Seriously man, just throw up the dirty duece and roll out, hop up here in the classifieds and find you another 1g for less than you're about to pay for that car. Hell if you have to find another shell that's decent, and use all the parts you currently have in your car to fix whatever is wrong with another 1g you can pick up. It's good though that you're asking for advice, just now take that advice, it's clear that you need to just walk away from this guy because he is feeding you line after line to buy a car that's not worth it. 1/4 in the 14's @ 120?

It is right... to do 1/4 that fast with no turbo is kinda hard in 14.4sec...
