After 5 seconds of the key in the ON position the CEL should turn off right?

It wasn't last time the car ran, but the car doesn't run anymore. I'm in the process of installing DSMLink and am trying to troubleshoot possible reasons why it wouldn't be working.

meaning when you fully turn on your car as in motor running....is the cel light on or are you talking about when your key is in the ign turn on but not as in the motor is running type?

I checked, no DTC's. Just to clarify, I'm getting this when the car is in the ON position, but the engine is not actually running. I read that there's a problem with the ECU if you are having this issue. When you turn the key to the ON position the light should go on and stay on for 5 seconds and then turn off, but mine stays on.

Try clearing the codes if you haven't already. iirc the light stays on if the car isn't running.

No, it should shut off, mine goes on for a few seconds and then goes out. I know it's supposed to go out and I've heard if it goes out that it's a sign that the ECU is powering up, so maybe your's isn't? I'm not 100% sure that's what your problem is, but probably something related to your ECU. Good luck!
