transmission bolt help

Ok well i am having trouble getting the right size bolts for my trans. I went to the dealer and they where out of stock, but they geave me the sizes for the 2 bolts i need. 10x43.5 and 10x40. Well i got the 10M 40mm bolt and i does not fit!!!! it goes in most of the way and stops and wont catch on any thread. also the other size 10x43.5 what is that? i cant find that size anywhere. I have one of the OEM bolts but it was finger loose and it will not tighten on the trans. So something is wrong with the both or the trans bolt hole is not lined up or something.

sounds to me like the threads are stripped out in your tranny. i would try to re -tap it or even heli coil it if you have to.

You might have the wrong thread pitch. You have the diameter (M10) and you have the length (40). You need to make sure you have the right pitch (M10 x 1.25 - where 1.25 is the thread pitch). You could be trying to put a fine bolt into a course hole.
