I’m trying to determine how many counts of knock I’m getting on my 2G, but in order to do this I need to log RPM, timing, O2 & mass airflow rate. For some reason when I monitor or log/record my airflow rates are 0 (null). I’ve double checked my SAFC2 wiring and it appears to be wired correctly, as I opted for running the pink and orange (vs white and yellow) wires that modify the airflow signal to the ECU. Most sets of install instructions (RRE, Pro-Street) recommend the pink and orange wires as opposed to the white and yellow. My car is running great, so I’m pretty confident that the SAFC2 is wired correctly. My logger setup consists of a Palm M130, serial hot sync to Multiplex T16-003 OBD2 interface, and OBD Gauge software.

Does anyone have any ideas as to why I can’t monitor or log mass airflow rate?

Thanks in advance.

Are you referring to the Karmen sensor? Yes, the Hz change with RPM and in some instances at higher RPM's the values will flash. It almost behaves like a shift light.

No dropping to zero, or jumping around.

The frequency numbers stay on and steadily increase/decrease with rpm. When I push the car to higher rpms, the numbers stay on but the backlite portion surrounding the numbers will flash. Acts like a built in shift light. Anybody else experience this with their SAFC2, black face?

I assume that the pink & orange wires on the SAFC2 install is still the recommended route? Could my woes be due to OBDGauge? What are my other choices for free 2G logging software?

Another question I have is concerning tunerstien. The version I have doesn't seem to work or log at all. When I access TS the sensor I have selected just scroll from 0 to 99, then back down to 0.

So you're using a Datalogger then? Research loggers and common problems and if you can't resolve it demand your money back or an exchange. Don't put up with businesses that sell faulty products.

:toobad: Not quite.

Hmmm where to start...OBD Gauge and Tunerstein are free logging software you can download and use on PDA's and Pocket PC. Yep.:thumb:

Yes the pink and orange wires are what you want to use for the MAS wire. The orange goes on the vehicle harness side and the pink wire gets attached closest to the ECU. Make sure the connections are solid (solder is recommended) and you cut the MAS wire. There are also two grounds, one black and one brown, did you put the black wire further away from the ECU and tap the brown wire closer to the ECU?

Your logger isn't the problem, since it's on the "other side" of the ECU. Sounds like a problem with the SAFC, wiring or the ECU. As for your questions about OBDGauge and Tunerstein, I can't help you with that one. I've only ever used the PocketLogger software.

I double checked my ground wires and yes they are tapped in correctly. Any other ideas?

Do you know anyone else with a 2g logger that you could try (either try your logger on their car or their logger on your car)? Did you have the logger before you installed the AFC and did it work then?

I got my logger after installing my SAFC2. I can ask around on the local forums to see if I can try my logger on another 2g. Since the 2g is OBDII compliant, wouldn't I be able to just plug in my multiplex interface into any other post 95' car?
