When my gsx hits around 2500-3000 rpms, there is this loud noise that sounds like a grind that is coming from the transmission. None of the gears grind though. When it does make the noise and you come to a stop sign, it goes away after three or four seconds. However, when you get on it, it doesnt make any noises.

Does anyone have any input on what this is. I was told either throw out bearing or input shaft. Does anyone know how much it will cost(ballpark) to replace either or them?

Sorry if it is a bad explanation.

Without actually hearing it,I had a similar noise/problem and it turned out to be the center differential destroying itself.I would drain the fluid and see if there is any metal flakes, chips in it.
