After getting a bogus copy of DSMLINK off here, I put my stock chip back in and the car wouldn't start. So I bought another ECU off ebay. Gets here today and the plugs are completely different! I called the seller before buying it, said it came off a 95 Talon TSi AWD which is exactly what I have. Part number is MD165531 follwed by E2T36582.

I am so sick of this bullshit. I'm already out almost $600 between everything all over a scammer on here. Why are the plugs different?

eBay Motors: 95-99 Talon / Eclipse Stock AWD Turbo ECU Cheap (item 130180550772 end time Dec-10-07 18:41:36 PST)

Looked legit to me.

I'm about to put a bullet in my brain. I've got people wanting to come look at the car because they want to buy it and I can't even let them do that now... I just want to get rid of this stupid piece of shit car.

Nevermind, just found out it's a 1G ECU. I'll be calling the seller tonight. Bad timing thats all..

I bought my 2G eprom (95) from FFWDConnection it was apparent that it was inspected by a technician (each chip was marked like electronics technicians do when inspecting), and I have absolutely no problems with it. It made me feel a little better that it was inspected.

I bought my DSMLink from ImportEvolution. They are great to work with aswell. Ya, its pricey to buy new... but I knew I was getting what I was paying for aswell.

Yeah, not only is it for a 1G, but it's also non-eprom.

FYI: Buying used electronics online is always a risky deal. It's usually worth the extra money to buy direct from the source (dsmlink.com).

Yeah learned that the hard way.. But I've done over 200 online transactions a lot of them dealing with other electronic stuff. Maybe had a problem once or twice but nothing this big. Guy keeps saying he'll refund me but I haven't seen anything in my paypal yet!

Might just file a claim. Hopefully the guy I bought the ECU off of will just give me my money back right away.. it shouldn't be a problem.

Yeah anyone out there buying DSMLink used.. ONLY buy it if its a V2!!!!!!

I just don't get it. I feel like I've been hit so hard with bad karma on this car.. I try to be a pretty good person I mean I'm not out there trying to #### a bunch of people over all the time.

Since the car is more then likely sold, I found a pretty modded 95 GS-T for sale. I'm going to pick it up for around $2500 but he said once the car will hit 4500rpms, it feels like it hits a brick wall and falls flat on it's face. I had a customer who bought an ECU from me (go figure) and his car did the exact same thing. Customer said it happened after an alarm install and the owner of the GS-T said it started doing this around the time of the alarm install as well.

Anyone else ever have any problems like this? It's a pretty clean DSM and I'd be able to afford another car to daily drive if I had to. Either that for fix my daily driver now and buy it from my parents. (Needs tires, heater fixed, etc).

I'm going to go look at it next week. If I pick it up, I'm keeping the semi-built head and throwing a 6bolt in there. Well depending on compression and amount of play within the crankshaft, if any.

As much as I hate these cars, I love them at the same time. I think my TSi was just beat to hell and back and I was in over my head.

Theres not anything in ana alarm that you would hook up that would make it cut out at a certain rpm. Even with a remote start it uses the tach wire but it uses the same tach wire that you would use with an aftermarket tach. Unless someone didnt know what they were doing when they insatlled it. It sounds more like it might be hitting fuel cut. It may ba as simple as a boost leak. But i highly doubt it would be from the alarm install unless like i said somebody didnt know what htey were doing.

Yeah I had my doubts too. He said he checked for boost leaks. I'm not even sure if it's boosting. I'm kind of putting my money on a dead ECU.

Well just an update. I made a WTB on a local forum and I picked up an EPROM for $100.

Thats awesome you got an eprom ecu for 100. Iim gonna have to post for that. Ive been looking for one buti dont want to pay $200 for one. I had oen but didnt think i was goign to go far enough for dsmlink but now ive changed my mind.

Best bet is to find someone who doesn't know what they have. I had a spare EPROM I paid $18 for at the junkyard but I sold it a couple days later for $250.
